Small Leather Goods in Upcycled Leather

This collection of small leather goods in upcycled leather is handmade in Belgium and consists of autonomous objects: compact in scale, strong in identity.

Each piece is crafted in my atelier in Schaerbeek, Belgium, using carefully reclaimed leather and recovered materials. What remains from previous projects is not discarded but reinterpreted. Limitation becomes a design principle. Material regains meaning.

What is small in size is fundamental in intention.

Craft as Construction

These small leather goods are not secondary products derived from larger bags. They are conceived as independent objects, developed with attention to proportion, structure and functional clarity.

Stitching is executed either by machine or by hand using time-honoured techniques. Edges are sanded, dyed and polished according to the rules of the craft. Where structural reinforcement is required, salpa is integrated. Each accessory is presented in a luxurious, minimalist box made of recycled cardboard — designed to be both practical and aesthetically refined, suitable for everyday use or as a meaningful gift.

This is not mass production. Craft here is not nostalgia, but a contemporary design attitude. Every piece is unique or produced in very limited numbers in Belgium.

1919 — Bauhaus as a New Beginning

The 1919 line refers to the founding year of the Bauhaus. Like that movement, this series is grounded in reduction: removing the unnecessary, revealing construction and returning form to clear geometry.

Colour functions as a structural element. Craft and modernity intersect. Designs emerge from logic rather than decoration. The series was originally developed for my participation in the COSH.eco pop-up at the Conscious Fashion Store in Berlin, where architectural and sustainable objects formed the core focus.

Origin Series — The Beginning of Material

The Origin Series refers to the starting point of my leather practice: transforming a leather motorbike trouser into small objects. Inspired by the work of the late Eric Baudoin, reuse became an artistic departure point.

At its core lies revaluation: material that has already lived acquires a new form without denying its history.

Sustainable Companions

These small leather goods are designed to endure — as functional objects and as carriers of narrative. They may be chosen as they are, or developed entirely through custom design, integrating colours, textures and personal memories into a new creation.

In 2023, this work received the official recognition of Belgian Recognised Craft, acknowledging craftsmanship, precision and authenticity.

The collection evolves. New objects emerge when material, necessity and idea intersect.
