Origin Serie
Origin Serie — Small leather goods as a beginning
The Origin Serie refers to the starting point of my leather practice: compact objects shaped by reuse, limitation and deep respect for material. Each piece is handmade in Belgium using upcycled leather and carefully reclaimed remnants.
Origin is not a style label. It is an attitude: choosing not to begin with “new”, but with what already exists. Leather that once belonged to a garment or accessory is given a new function — without erasing its history.
Where it began
My first small leather goods emerged from upcycling a leather motorbike trouser. That early experiment was inspired in part by the work of the late Eric Baudoin, and it shaped an approach in which leftover material is not a limitation, but a design engine.
Material as a carrier of meaning
In the Origin Serie, material is not corrected into perfection. Traces, texture and character remain visible. What other systems treat as unusable is revalued here as something worthy — transformed into an object meant for daily use.
The designs remain deliberately compact and functional: small leather goods that organise your routine without excess. Each object is finished with care, paying close attention to edges, construction and longevity.
A series that evolves
The Origin Serie evolves with the material that becomes available. New accessories may be introduced when material, necessity and idea intersect. This keeps the series alive, limited and inherently unique.
Frequently Asked Questions about Origin Serie
What does Origin Serie mean?
Origin Serie refers to the beginning of the leather practice: designs rooted in upcycling, limitation and material revaluation.
Are the pieces always unique?
Yes. Because the series works with reclaimed leather and remnants, each piece is one-of-a-kind or produced in very limited numbers.
How is it different from the 1919 line?
1919 is built on Bauhaus principles and geometric clarity. Origin Series centres on origin and material history — the beginning of the object is the point of departure.
Is everything made in Belgium?
Yes. Each piece is handmade in my Belgian atelier, with attention to construction, finishing and durability.
